Parr, 70, who died of a heart attack at his home, probably early morning; he was found in his bed by his son, Charles Parr, in the afternoon. Services were held at the Champion Funeral Home, with the Rev. Percy Bruns, pastor of the Baptist Church in Riceville, in charge of the service. Burial was in Wayne Cemetery at McIntire. David Ronald Parr was born near Russell, Lucas Co, Iowa, on April 10, 1887, son of Mr. and Mrs. Beauford Andrew Parr. He attended the schools at Russell and was baptized in the United Brethren Church at an early age. His marriage to Ada L. Griffin took place at Bailey, Dec. 18, 1913. Mr. Parr was a bridge foreman and for a time, the family lived in Ottumwa, Iowa. Later, working as an interior decorator, they lived in Waterloo. In 1942 they moved to Hayward, California and in the fall of 1948 they returned to Osage, Iowa. Moving to Riceville in 1951, Mr. Parr remained there until the death of his wife, Ada, on April 10, 1956. Since then, he has lived in Osage with his son, Charles. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and one sister. Also survived by sons Charles of Osage, and Douglas of Hayward, CA; a daughter Gloria (Parr) Rice wife of Dr. C.D. Rice of Osage; 4 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Jim of Long Beach, CA and Ernie of Russell, IA; 2 sisters: Mrs. Jane (Parr) Long and Mrs. Laura (Parr) Knapp of Russell,(actually close to Centerville, Appanoose Co, IA). I do not know about this reference of "one sister" preceding him in death unless she is his half sister Melissa Ellen Parr Reeves, who died 1946. ** Not mentioned but also surviving is his sister, Bessie (Parr) Walton, who died 1984. Additional note: my Grandma always called her brother "Rollie"; his WWI registration gives his middle name as Ronnald and that is how he signed it. - Clc
