David was born Jan. 16, 1923 in Chelan, the son of Ralph and Zae (LaChapelle) Beckley. He went all through school in Chelan where he was active in football and boxing tournaments. Read More	David Ralph Beckley, age 86, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009 after a short illness at his home in North Las Vegas, Nev. David was born Jan. 16, 1923 in Chelan, the son of Ralph and Zae (LaChapelle) Beckley. He went all through school in Chelan where he was active in football and boxing tournaments. He was Master Counselor of the local chapter of the Order of DeMolay and was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. During World War II David joined the Navy, Oct. 14, 1942, and served as an Aviation Machinist's Mate. After three and one-half years of military service he was discharged and returned home. On March 9, 1947, he married Dorothy West of Chelan at the St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Wenatchee. David and Dorothy managed the Ruby Theatre in Chelan for a time before moving to California where David enrolled in the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, Calif., in 1949. After graduation in 1953, he owned his own agency and was rated tops in the field of graphic arts. In the pursuit of his career, he worked in California and Washington, D.C. He and his wife recently retired and made their home in North Las Vegas, Nev. David is survived by Dorothy, his wife of 62 years; his son Michael of Palm Springs, Calif.; and daughter Susan and her husband Chad Wadlow of North Las Vegas, Nev.; and his sister, Marcelle Carpenter of Chelan. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carmen Riley of Renton, and brother Phillip Beckley of Puyallup. A memorial service was conducted in the Veteran's Memorial Park in Boulder, Colo. with members of the U.S. Navy serving as color guard.
