David was born in Eskridge, Kansas on December 22, 1936, to James Renwick Patterson and Corinne (Kerr) Patterson. David attended grade school in Los Angeles, California and junior and senior high school in Pittsburgh, PA. He graduated from Geneva College, Beaver Falls, PA in 1959 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Literature, Religious Education, and Philosophy. David was born in Eskridge, Kansas on December 22, 1936, to James Renwick Patterson and Corinne (Kerr) Patterson. David attended grade school in Los Angeles, California and junior and senior high school in Pittsburgh, PA. He graduated from Geneva College, Beaver Falls, PA in 1959 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Literature, Religious Education, and Philosophy. In 1962, he graduated from the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Pittsburgh, PA. On April 17, 1959, David married Patricia Jean Willson. David was a lifelong member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America ("RPCNA"). He pastored congregations in Clay Center (Hebron), KS; Winchester, KS; and Clarinda, IA. He did supply preaching in Olathe, KS as well as in the Braddyville Christian Church in Braddyville, Iowa. For 14 years he operated the Patterson Press printing various publications associated with the Reformed Presbyterian Church including the Covenanter Witness, Christian Statesman, Blue Banner Faith and Life, Christian Patriot, and Minutes of Synod. David has lived in Clarinda since 1973. In addition to being a pastor and operating the Patterson Press, he later farmed in the College Springs area and was manager and part owner of the Red Oak Printing Company in Red Oak, Iowa. He worked for a time at the Clarinda Company as well as Lisle Corporation. Later he drove a truck for Werner Enterprises in Omaha, NE and Carpenter Transport in Clarinda. He enjoyed KU basketball and his work on the complete restoration of a 1923 Maxwell coupe. David was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Jeannie and Marilyn. He is survived by his three children, Ron and wife, Mary Lou, of Merriam, KS; Ken of Fairfax, VA; and Debbie Gum and husband, J.C., of Omaha, NE; seven grandchildren; brother, Paul and wife, Shirley, of East Palestine, OH; sister, Sheryl Biddle of East Palestine, OH; nieces; nephews and many friends Published Ritchie Funeral Home website
