Description	:	David Robert "Dave" Spiegel, of Albion, Nebraska, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014 at his home following a battle with cancer. Dave, son of Robert F. and Ramona D. (Moore) Spiegel, was born May 14, 1955 at Albion, Nebraska. Dave was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Albion, Nebraska and graduated from Albion (NE.) High School in 1973. Read More	David Robert "Dave" Spiegel, of Albion, Nebraska, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014 at his home following a battle with cancer. Dave, son of Robert F. and Ramona D. (Moore) Spiegel, was born May 14, 1955 at Albion, Nebraska. Dave was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Albion, Nebraska and graduated from Albion (NE.) High School in 1973. He attended the Nebraska State Patrol Training Academy in 1977 and 1983. On July 30, 1977, Dave married Linda Niewohner at Zion Lutheran Church, Albion, Nebraska. The couple lived in Albion, Omaha and O'Neill, Nebraska during Dave's 26 year career with the Nebraska State Patrol. Following his retirement in 2006, they returned to Albion where Dave was elected Boone County Sheriff, and served in that position for the past seven years. As a State Trooper, Dave was also a member of the SWAT Team for 21 years, 15 of which he was Team Leader. He was a former member of Christ Lutheran Church, O'Neill, Nebraska and a current member of Zion Lutheran Church, Albion, Nebraska. He served on the O'Neill (NE.) School Board, Church Council, Country Club Board, Sheriff's Association, Local Emergency Operations Planning and was a member of Jeep Club. Dave enjoyed golfing, jeeping, traveling, riding motorcycles, volunteering in his community, watching the Andy Griffith Show, but above all, spending time with his family. Dave is survived by: wife, Linda Spiegel of Albion, Nebraska; daughters, Michelle (Chris) Tomjack of Chambers, Nebraska, Brandy (Jason) Trummer of Omaha, Nebraska and Kristy Spiegel and fiancé Erick McCready of Albion, Nebraska; granddaughter, Calli Tomjack of Chambers, Nebraska; mother, Ramona Spiegel and friend Ted Schlange; sister: Becky (Jim) Olnes; parents-in-law: Delbert and Marilee Niewohner, all of Albion, Nebraska and a host of family and friends. Dave was preceded in death by: father, Robert Spiegel and grandmothers, Ardy Haugh and Edna Spiegel-Young. Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church, Albion, Nebraska with Rev. David Frerichs officiated. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion, Nebraska.
