| Description | : | David Rufus Macomson, son of Isiah P. and Martha (née McKown) Macomson, was born on the 18th of August 1842 in Union County, South Carolina. On the 29th of August 1861, at the age of 19, David enlisted as a Private in Company F, 15th Regiment, South Carolina Infantry, CSA; under the command of Cpt. Charles W. Boyd. The 15th Regiment was known as, Thicketty Rifles. David was wounded at the Battle of Boonesborough (South Mountain, Maryland) September 14, 1862 and later discharged at Columbia, South Carolina.
