David Bower, a former Bowerston citizen, while reading a newspaper Tuesday night of last week at his home in Canton fell asleep, and while in that state three men entered the house and after binding him and taking nineteen dollars in cash and his gold watch set fire to the house. David Bower, a former Bowerston citizen, while reading a newspaper Tuesday night of last week at his home in Canton fell asleep, and while in that state three men entered the house and after binding him and taking nineteen dollars in cash and his gold watch set fire to the house. His obituary in the Carroll Journal, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, December 3, 1936. David T. Bower, 86, son of the late David Bower, con-founder of the village of Bowerston, died Saturday, November 28, at the home of his son, Albert S. Bower. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Surviving are four other children, Mrs. Luella Orr of Massillon, Ward C. Bower of New Philadelphia, Mrs. Iva Dennis and Mack C. Bower. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the M. E. Church, Rev. E. H. Warner officiating. Interment was made in Longview Cemetery.
