Porath, 76, Lincoln, went to live with his Savior on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, following a very long and hard-fought illness. David Timothy was born to his parents, Cedric and Ruby (Emrich) Porath, on September 3, 1941, in Norfolk. He was the first of three children. David attended a one room elementary school known only as District 17. He graduated from Battle Creek High in 1959 where he served as president of his class. David served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany, where he worked in radio communications. Upon his return, he went to work at Scott Electronic where he started as a clerk and progressed to owning the company. He was with Scott Electronic for over 40 years. Although his faith came first with David, Scott Electronic was his second love. He always felt a strong pull to Valentine and deeply wished to see it one last time. Unfortunately, that was not to be. David was blessed to have known not only his grandparents but all of his great-grandparents as well. David was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church for many years before transferring to Immanuel Lutheran in Eagle where his godson, Scott Porath, serves as pastor. David's faith came first and foremost above all else. He taught the 'Truth Project' for many years. He is survived by his wife Erin Robyn, step-daughter Patti of Wisconsin, loving sister Sandra (Jim) Tams, brother Rodney (Sharlyn), nephews Jeff Tams, Brad (Deb) Tams and Darren Porath; nieces Amanda (Brian) Taylor and Stephanie (Chris) Kuchar as well as many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cedric and Ruby, and step-daughter, Marika. The family would like to thank Pathways to Compassion Hospice for their professionalism and care of David. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 4, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eagle. Pastor Scott Porath will officiate. Burial was held at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk. Memorials are requested to the family. Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.
