Description	:	David Broek Dies After Long Illness After lying for nearly six months on a bed in the Hull hospital David Broek, sixteen year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Will Broek, succumbed Saturday evening to the ravages of osteomyelitis. Read More	David Broek Dies After Long Illness After lying for nearly six months on a bed in the Hull hospital David Broek, sixteen year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Will Broek, succumbed Saturday evening to the ravages of osteomyelitis. The young man was first taken ill with the disease when, he was picking corn at which time it was found to be located in his hip bone. From there the dread illness spread to other parts of his body, with physicians being unable to check the disease. Although this sickness wasted away his body until he was a mere wisp of former self David's mind was perfectly clear to the very end. When hope was abandoned for his recovery the boy expressed his longing to go and to be free from the pain he was suffering. However, not at any time did anybody hear a word of complaint or bitterness from David. He bore his lot patiently and without a murmur. The boy was the third oldest of seven children in the Broek family. The surviving members of his family besides his parents are Marion, Harriet, Albert, John, and Donald Wayne. Funeral services were held Wednesday, 1:00 o'clock at the home and 2:00 o'clock at the Second Chr. Ref. Church. Rev. L. Ypma delivered the sermon in the Holland language and Rev. J. M. Dykstra in the English language. Interment was in the local cemetery. Sioux Center News 1934-04-12.
