David was born on May 14, 1953, in Sioux City, to Ralph and Dorothy (Diamond) Chinn. He graduated from Kingsley-Pierson High School in 1971. David was born on May 14, 1953, in Sioux City, to Ralph and Dorothy (Diamond) Chinn. He graduated from Kingsley-Pierson High School in 1971. He then joined the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam conflict. He attended Western Iowa Tech Community College for auto body and restoration, graduating in 1976. He then went into the meat industry and worked with the U.S. Agriculture Department as a federal meat inspector for many years. He was a member of Pierson Christian Church. He also was a member of the Pierson American Legion Post 291 for 36 years. There is no doubt Dave touched many individuals during his lifetime. However, what he gave to them in friendship, knowledge, and love will be felt for generations to come. You will be missed, Dave. Dave leaves behind his three children, Heather (Jared) Vedral of Sioux City, Amy (Donny) Dugan of Pierson, and Justin (Teri) Chinn of Spencer, Iowa; grandchildren, Kendra Volkert, Alicia Redenius, Leigh, Austin, Trenton and Eric Chinn, Hunter and Aubrey Vedral, Shane, Katlyn, and Connor Dugan; a great-granddaughter, Hadley Kelsch; his parents, Ralph Chinn of Correctionville, Iowa, and Dorothy Chinn of Pierson; and siblings, Deb (Reed) Henrichsen of Des Moines, and Donnie (Marty) Chinn of Correctionville. He is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and nephews, who were a huge part in his life. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; many aunts and uncles; a nephew, Casey Chinn; and a cousin, Ronnie Chinn. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the VA of Sioux City, June E.
