She is survived by her husband of twenty six years, Bill Whitacre, and her mother, Betty Jensen, as well as a large number of friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Dale Jensen. Dayra was born in Postville, Iowa, on May 31, 1952. She graduated from Valley High School, Elgin, Iowa, with the class of 1970, and from the University of Iowa, where she and Bill met in 1975. She was a medical technologist and later became a computer systems analyst, working in the medical field. She was very creative and enjoyed many craft hobbies, including knitting, quilting, and stamping. She was also an avid reader and loved animals, especially her dog Zoey and cat Phoebe which she rescued from shelters. Dayra's friendly generous spirit and wonderful smile will be greatly missed.
