Description	:	D. Persons, 64, Dies D. I. (Speed) Persons, 64, 2929 Rugby Drive, died at his home Sunday after a lengthy bout with cancer. He acquired his nickname as anchor man on relay track team at Hamline College, St. Paul, Minn., and was much in demand as an after dinner speaker. He was born Oct. 16, 1904, at Chatfield, Minn., a son of Mr. and Mrs. Irven Persons, and was educated in Minnesota schools. He married Alma Germstad in 1928 in Minnesota. She died Jan. 9, 1965 at Billings. He married Mrs. Lois L. Markham in Gering, Neb., Aug. 27, 1965 and she survives. OTHER SURVIVORS include a daughter, Mrs. Robert R. Gordon, 2422 Brentwood Lane; (continued on Page 2.) a son, Dayton Stewart Persons, Westminister, Colo.; a step-daughter, Mrs. John Edward Carroll Jr., San Jose, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. J. Herbert Bamford, Oakland, Calif.; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at American Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gordon V. Tollefson officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Michelotti-Sawyer Mortuary in charge.
