Description	:	John R. Clough, 74, formerly of Burlington, Iowa and West Point, Iowa died on Sunday, May 20, 2001, at 5:10 a.m., at his home in Murrysville, Pennsylvania. He had been seriously ill for six weeks. He was born Aug. 6, 1926, in Menasha, Wisconsin, the son of Rufus and Bertha Tuchscherer Clough. Clough, 74, formerly of Burlington, Iowa and West Point, Iowa died on Sunday, May 20, 2001, at 5:10 a.m., at his home in Murrysville, Pennsylvania. He had been seriously ill for six weeks. He was born Aug. 6, 1926, in Menasha, Wisconsin, the son of Rufus and Bertha Tuchscherer Clough. On June 16, 1951, he married Janice Temborius at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fort Madison, Iowa. During World War II, Mr. Clough was a member of the 100th Infantry Division. He spent 21 months in the European Theater, stationed in Germany, and served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Constabulary Headquarters. He retired as Sales Manager of Merchants Wholesale Company, Burlington, in 1991. On Dec. 31, 1980, Mr. Clough was ordained to the Permanent Diaconate of the Roman Catholic Church by Bishop Gerald O'Keefe, in Davenport, Iowa. Deacon Clough served at St. John the Baptist Church in Burlington for seven years. He moved to the West Point area in 1987 and there served Sacred Heart Parish in Fort Madison for 10 years. Following a move to Murrysville, Pa., Deacon Clough has served at Mother of Sorrows Parish, for the past four years. While always involved in many different ministries, Deacon Clough especially enjoyed his work as Director of the RCIA, and his service to residents in Care Centers and patients in hospitals. In addition to his ministries in the Church, Deacon Clough enjoyed great involvement with his children, grandchildren and great grandchild. He was an avid reader and played Cribbage, weekly. Throughout his life, he had a deep appreciation of the beauty and order found in nature. In addition to traveling to visit his children's families, Deacon Clough made pilgrimages to Medjugorje, Bosnia in 1991 and to Betania, Venezuela in 1993. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Christopher Clough (Deb) of Marshalltown and Craig Clough (Patty) of Oak Forest, Ill.; four daughters, Jacqueline Free (Doug) of Murrysville, Pa., Kimberly Baker of Altoona, Jan Clough of Macomb, Ill. and Jill Krauza (Bill) of Murrysville; 13 grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers, Donald Clough of Little Rock, Ark. and Thomas Clough of Westland, Mich.; three sisters-in-law, Joyce Kutscher of West Point, Joan Temborius of Villa Park, Ill. and Evelyn Clough of Little Rock, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two brothers-in-law and one granddaughter. The Mass of the Resurrection was offered for Deacon Clough on Thursday, May 24, 2001 at 11 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Most Rev. William E. Franklin D.D., Bishop of the Diocese of Davenport, Iowa, as Celebrant. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Fort Madison. A memorial was established for Sacred Heart Church of Fort Madison, Iowa.
