The stones of Deac. Joseph & Esther are on the left side of the road and facing the opposite direction away from the road. They are small stones).

Description	:	~MY ANCESTOR~ Deacon Joseph was the son of JOHN & HANNAH (MERRIMAN) IVES of Wallingford, CT and grandson of WILLIAM & HANNAH (DICKERMAN) IVES of New Haven, CT and NATHANIEL & JOAN MERRIMAN of Wallingford, CT. He married ESTHER BENEDICT on May 11, 1697 in Wallingford, CT. He was one of the first settlers of Cheshire to receive a homelot. The house he built and where his family was raised is still standing (see pictures). It's now a private residence. In 1726, Deacon Ives was chosen as one of a committee of three to find a suitable burying ground. Their daughter, ABIGAIL (IVES) SPERRY , who is my ancestor, married DANIEL SPERRY and they are buried in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hamden. Deacon Ives' house is located at 280 Fenn Road, Cheshire, CT. Directions: From the cemetery, return to Route 10 and continue south to Cook Hill Road (about your 5th left - there is a traffic light). Turn left on Cook Hill, then 3rd right is Fenn. The house is on the right and has a plaque. (Fenn bends around and connects directly with Route 10, the next left past the Cook Hill turn -- but it is more direct to make the turn at the traffic light.)
