Flesch, 81, of The Woodlands, Texas, passed peacefully in the night on Tuesday, July 24, 2018, in the presence of those who loved him. Memorial services will to be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Central City, followed by a Christian burial at the Central City Cemetery. Robert was born on May 14, 1937, in Kenosha, Wis., to Joe and Leona Flesch (Braun). He grew up in Ravenna, along with his brother, Jerry Flesch of Wichita Falls, Texas, and his sister Jeanene Lilienthal of Doniphan. Robert graduated from Ravenna High school and then attended Conception Seminary in Conception, Mo., and went on to graduate from the Kearney State Teachers College, where he earned a teaching degree. On Dec. 29, 1960, Robert married the love of his life, Maymie Flesch (Bolling) in Central City. In 1960 Robert enlisted in the Army and was first stationed in Ft. Benning, Ga. Shortly thereafter, Robert was deployed to Korea and later to Ft. Lewis, Wash. After his discharge, he and Maymie moved to San Francisco in 1963. They later moved from San Francisco to the Big Island of Hawaii, where they lived until 1967. After returning to California in 1967, Bob and Maymie moved to Albuquerque, N.M., and then Houston, before settling in Central City in 1984. Throughout their moves, both Robert and Maymie were very active in the Catholic church. In 1994 Robert was ordained as Deacon Robert Joseph Flesch, serving at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Central City until 2014. After moving to Texas, Deacon Robert served in a retired capacity at St. Anthony of Padua in The Woodlands, Texas. Deacon Robert is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Esther Flesch, and grandchildren Meagan Flesch, Samuel Flesch and Sophie Flesch, all of The Woodlands, Texas. Other survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Fina Flesch of Wichita Falls, Texas; his sister Jeanene Lilienthal of Doniphan; and many nieces and nephews. Deacon Robert Flesch was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Charles Flesch, and his mother, Leona Flesch (Braun), both of Grand Island; and his loving wife, Maymie, who passed in December 2011.
