Son of Walter LeRoy Brewer and Elsie May Bibbey OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, March 30, 1989 BREWER Dean Harvey Brewer, son of Walter and Elsie Bibbey Brewer, was born Sept. 11, 1914, and passed away on March 22, 1989, at the Wayne County Hospital, Corydon, at the age of 74 years, 6 months and 11 days. He was united in marriage to Hattie Merl Couchman on August 15, 1938 in Corydon, and to this union six children were born: Kenneth, Carolyn, Verla, Anita, Daryl and Connie. In 1927, he joined the New York Christian Church. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific from 1944-1946. He was a lifelong resident of Wayne County. Dean was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kenneth; a brother, Carl; and an infant sister. Surviving him, in addition to his wife, Merl, are his children: Carolyn and husband Keith Brinkley of Davenport; Verla and husband David Pitzen of Cedar Rapids; Anita and husband James Williams of Chariton; Daryl and wife Edith of Marion; and Connie and husband Robert Risbeck of Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Glenn Brewer and wife Juanita; a sister, Idalene Mulder; and nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends. Services were held Friday, March 24, 1989, at 1:30 p.m. at the Randolph Funeral Home, Corydon, with the Rev. Harley Kennedy officiating. "In The Garden" and "How Great Thou Art" were sung by Clarence Dodson, accompanied by Esta Lee Wolf, organist. Interment was in the New York Cemetery in Wayne County. Pallbearers were Garry Brinkley, Bryan Brinkley, Mick Pitzen, Bill Pitzen, Scott Williams, Darle Brewer, Ryan Risbeck, Nicole Risbeck, Lori Williams, Ruth Perryman and Theca Mitchell.
