Description	:	Dean LaVern Kusserow was born August 9, 1937 in Eldora, Iowa to Ilo and Fern (Willcox) Kusserow. He grew up on the family's Century Farm west of Eldora. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora. He attended Norwood #2 Country School, Owasa School and graduated from Eldora High School, with the Class of 1955. Read More	Dean LaVern Kusserow was born August 9, 1937 in Eldora, Iowa to Ilo and Fern (Willcox) Kusserow. He grew up on the family's Century Farm west of Eldora. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Eldora. He attended Norwood #2 Country School, Owasa School and graduated from Eldora High School, with the Class of 1955. On September 25, 1959, Dean was united in marriage to Nancy Tjarks at the Zion Church in Hubbard. Dean held various jobs until he became a letter carrier for the Railway Post Office in Council Bluffs, Iowa for four months then in 1959, he was transferred to the Marshalltown Post Office and lived in Albion. Dean retired from the Postal Service as a letter carrier in October 1992. He was recognized and received his 50 year pin for his years of service as a letter carrier with the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC). In 2001, Dean and Nancy moved to Eldora, and he continued to farm his family's Century Farm. Dean enjoyed being with his family, grandkids activities and driving his Haflinger horses. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Haflinger Horse Association, NALC, which he held state and local offices and a member of the Albion Fire Department. Dean died at the age of 73 on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, IA after a short illness with lymphoma. He is survived by his wife Nancy of Eldora; three children Roger and wife Pam Kusserow of Marshalltown, Deborah and husband Scott Sebby of Clarion and Michael and wife Cathy of Hubbard; seven grandchildren Kyle Kusserow, Sara and husband Jared Daggett, Leah Sebby, Grant Sebby and Kaleb Kusserow; two great-grandchildren Jordyn and Madisyn Daggett; brother Carroll Kusserow, sisters Linda Hovden and Iola Kusserow; along with many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation was on Sunday, June 5, 2011 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Boeke Funeral Home in Hubbard. Funeral service was held Monday, June 6, 2011 at 2:00 pm at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Eldora, IA.
