Description	:	Dean Ray Christensen, 72, of Montrose passed away suddenly on April 25, 2019 at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am on Monday, April 29 at St. John Lutheran Church in Montrose. Visitation will be from 5-7 on Sunday at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem. Dean Ray Christensen was born August 21, 1946 in Sioux Falls, SD to Henry and Mary (Mustar) Christensen. He grew up in Montrose where he graduated from Montrose High School in 1964. He then moved to Chicago where he worked for Thermo King before transferring with them back to Sioux Falls. He married Judi in 1970. In 1976 they moved to the family farm north of Montrose where they raised their three children. Dean raised livestock and crops for over 40 years. He was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed. He loved fishing and teaching his kids and grandkids how to fish. He and Judi had a cabin at Pike Haven north of Pierre. He also enjoyed playing cards with friends and having a morning cup of coffee anywhere he could find one. In his younger years, he spent time racing go-carts and enjoying the local racing scene, as well. He is survived by: his wife, 3 children, 5 grandchildren, and a sister-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Henry Jr., a sister, Bernice Parmely and Step-Brother Robert Lounsbery. Kinzley Funeral Home online, Salem, South Dakota.
