Description	:	Dean Wesley Luke was born March 13,1923, at Sioux Rapids, Iowa, the son of Perry Edward and Alta Lavina Orr Luke. He received his education in Eagle Grove, Missouri, and graduated from Clarion High School. He was united in marriage to Beverly June Frye of Woolstock, on January 12, 1942, at Lockwood Mo. Read More	Dean Wesley Luke was born March 13,1923, at Sioux Rapids, Iowa, the son of Perry Edward and Alta Lavina Orr Luke. He received his education in Eagle Grove, Missouri, and graduated from Clarion High School. He was united in marriage to Beverly June Frye of Woolstock, on January 12, 1942, at Lockwood Mo. The couple lived in Clarion, where he worked in a gas station. He lived in Fort Dodge for a time, before going to Fort Sill, Okla., and enlisting in the army, where his wife joined him after six months. Dean was transferred to naval shipyards in Bremerton, Wash., and worked on naval vessels as a foreman in charge of 23 electricians, 20 of whom were electrocuted while working. After two years, his nerves were so bad from losing men and other deaths he had seen, he was sent to Minnesota on V.J. Day, where he was in camp for 4 months, before being sent home. Dean was a truck driver for the CCA Feed Mill in Eagle Grove, for 20 years, before ill-health forced his retirement. He had undergone open-heart surgery at age 59. He was one of the co-founders of the Alcoholic Treatment Center in Fort Dodge. Dean died at his home in Eagle Grove, on Wednesday, July 16, of an apparent heart attack, at the age of 63 years, four months, and three days. Beverly died in 1968, of a sudden illness, at the age of 44. Dean was united in marriage with Francis Casebeer of Clarion on June 1, 1983 at the United Church of Christ, Eagle Grove. She survives him, as do 3 sons: Larry Dean Luke, Corpus Christi, Tex.; Gerald Wayne Luke, Loveland, Colo.; William Edward Luke, Fort Dodge; two daughters: Gloria Jean (Mrs. David) Pyle, Eagle Grove; and Sheena Marie (Mrs. John) Swhisher, Eagle Grove; 11 grandchildren and a brother: Lyle Edward Luke, of Manson. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Beverly; a seven year old sister Frances May Luke; and a brother, Perry Wayne Luke who died at the age of three days. Dean was a member of the United Church of Christ, Eagle Grove. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, at the United Church of Christ, Eagle Grove. Pastor Kenneth Reiter officiated, and burial was in Troy Township Cemetery south of Eagle Grove.
