Dean was born on February 19, 1923, in Manson, WA to Anna B. Harding and William Harrison. They lived on the orchard that Anna and William homesteaded up above Lake Chelan. His brother, Richard, arrived shortly thereafter. Dean's father died early in life and his mother and the two boys moved to Wenatchee, WA, where Dean grew up and married his high school sweetheart, Evelyn Marie Peters. Dean and Evelyn had a son, Michael in 1943. They loved to travel and for the next 20 years, lived in California, New Mexico, Colorado and several times in Seattle and Wenatchee, where he worked as a body and fender mechanic. Little brother, Chuck, was born in 1952. In 1962, Dean saw a lot of change in his life; son, Mike went off to the Army and after a divorce, Dean took his young son, Chuck and moved to sunny California, Sunset Beach and Vista. In Vista, he settled down to raise his youngest son, working as an insurance adjuster and truck driver. He stayed until 1988, when he retired and bought his dream, waterfront home on Puget Sound, near Gig Harbor. He lived there, close to his sons, Mike and Chuck until 1999, when he decided to try motor homing full time. Dean loved motor homes and motorcycles and always seemed to have them close. Dean decided in 2003, to buy a home in Lake Havasu City, AZ and try desert living. He joined the Senior Center and became a regular, with lots of friends. He was also a member of the Elks and Eagles Lodge there. Dean was always busy with projects and cars to repair. But his real love was conversation; he developed a network of friends wherever he went and they looked after him right up to the end. Dean was preceded in death by his mother, father, brother and wife. He is survived by both sons and two grandchildren. Dean was laid to rest at the Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee. His family and friends in all three states, Washington, California and Arizona, will miss him dearly. Dean had a great heart, pure soul and lived life exactly how he wanted. We all miss you, Dean, Farewell.
