MULLINS - Deborah “Debbie” Kaye Brown, 62, daughter of Don L. Brown and the late Rose Cook Brown, passed away at McLeod Hospice House with her family by her side after an extended illness on Wednesday afternoon, February 24, 2021 in Florence. Debbie was born July 15, 1958 in Mullins, a daughter of Don L. Brown and the late Rose Cook Brown. Debbie was a graduate of Mullins High School, where she graduated fourth in her class and with honors. Debbie continued her education through Horry-Georgetown Technical College, where she graduated with an associates degree in General Business, the University of South Carolina-Coastal Carolina College where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, Cum Laude, and Debbie earned her Masters of Business Administration from Winthrop College. Debbie was a network administrator where she would help people with and help set-up computers. Debbie was also an EMT. She was a member of Gapway Baptist Church, where she previously served as church treasurer, church secretary, VBS Director, and enjoyed working with the lights and sound system in the sanctuary and the Christian Life Center. Surviving Debbie in addition to her father of the home are four sisters, Donna Brown of Mullins, Patricia (Franklin) Whaley of Mullins, Shirley (Bryan) Ledbetter of Conway and Alice (Anson) White of Marion. Debbie was predeceased by her mother, Rose Cook Brown, her paternal grandparents, Willie Arthur and Alice Alford Brown, and her maternal grandparents, Cletus Lavern and Lottie Collins Cook. A funeral service for the immediate family will be held Sunday, February 28 at 2:00 p.m. in Gapway Baptist Church, with Rev. Stephen D. Bailey officiating. A private burial will follow in Red Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed on the Cox-Collins Funeral Home Facebook page. Guests in attendance are asked to please wear masks and follow proper social distancing while at the funeral for everyone’s safety.
