Born on March 3, 1956 in Keyser, she was the daughter of the late Howard V. Hott and Doris H. (Wilson) Hott. She was also preceded in death by her brother Robert V. Hott and sister Barbara S. Hott. She is survived by her husband, Mark A. Amyot, Rawlings; sister Sharon L. Montgomery and husband Randy, Burlington; daughter Christine (Amyot) Hurley and husband Benjamin, Greencastle, Pennsylvania; son Matthew Amyot and fiancée Danielle Bittner, Greencastle, Pennsylvania; nieces Ashley Montgomery, Keyser, Erica (Montgomery) Fazenbaker and husband Randy "Bud" Fazenbaker, Bloomington, and Tori Clifford, Staunton, Virginia; and her two very special grand-angels Conner and Addison Hurley of Greencastle, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by loving in-laws Margaret 'Peg' Amyot, Michelle Layman and husband Mike, Robert 'Bob' Amyot, Maribeth Amyot, Joseph 'Joe' Amyot and wife Lori, Andrew 'Drew' Amyot and wife Jamie, as well as many nieces and nephews. Deb was a 1974 graduate of Bruce High School. She attended Allegany Community College in Cumberland, Maryland and graduated with an Associates Degree in 1976. She later worked full time and attended college while raising two children, graduating from Frostburg State Universty in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She retired from the Allegany County Commissioners, having worked 30 years in the Finance and Human Resources departments. She was a devoted animal lover, volunteering for and supporting the Allegany County Animal Shelter Foundation. Deb was an inspiration for those living with heart failure, as well as the doctors, nurses, and aides with whom she interacted following the insertion of her LVAD (left-ventricle assist device). She was asked to speak to a panel of doctors and other healthcare professionals in Washington, D.C. on the topic of living life with an LVAD, and was featured prominently in Thoratec's literature regarding the benefits of having such a device. Her favorite hobby was spending time with her two grandchildren, Conner and Addison Hurley, who affectionately called her Gigi. They were a great joy to her, providing the inspiration she needed to work through the tough times with her illness. She was also an avid football fan who enjoyed cheering for the Buffalo Bills. Family will receive friends from 2-4 pm and from 7-9 pm at Boal's Funeral Home in Westernport. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home chapel on Monday, June 2, at 11:00 am with Father Edward Hendricks officiating. Interment will be at St. Peter's Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Allegany County Animal Shelter, 716 Furnace Street, Cumberland, Maryland 21502."
