She was born in Kokomo on August 26, 1941 to the late Augustus and Matilda Worthy (Toney). Deena was a 1960 Kokomo High School Graduate. She was also a Clark's Beauty College Graduate. Read More	Deena Lou Crawford, 72, Kokomo, passed away at 7:55 A.M. on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at the St. Joseph Hospital. She was born in Kokomo on August 26, 1941 to the late Augustus and Matilda Worthy (Toney). Deena was a 1960 Kokomo High School Graduate. She was also a Clark's Beauty College Graduate. On July 28, 1970 Deena and her husband Michael were married in Kokomo, and he survives. Deena was the Owner and Operator of Deena's Beauty Den for 30 years. She also opened JC Penneys salon and Meis Salon, in Elder Beerman Department Stores. After working in her own Salon for 30 years, Deena retired along with her husband Michael. Deena enjoyed hosting dinners and entertaining when she and her husband were able. All people were welcome in her home, she never met a stranger. Deena enjoyed shopping, listening to music, watching television and chatting on the phone all hours of the night. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her husband, whom she took care of for many years. The family would like to thank the 2nd floor ICU nurses at St. Joseph for their care and support during this difficult time. An extended thanks to Jackie Goodnight for taking good care of Mike, Marcia Maxwell for being a supportive good friend, and Sam Crawford for just being there. It did not go unnoticed. Deena is survived by her husband Michael Crawford; son, John Michael (Claudania) Shanks, of Bunker Hill; two daughters, Alice (Adam) Nelson of Kokomo, and Erin Marie McElroy (Ray Ray Smith), of Titusville, Florida; brother, Gene Worthy of Titusville, Florida; sister June Quillen, of Titusville, Florida; four grandsons, Zac Shanks (Julie Wolfe), Cody Shanks, Alexander and Adam Joseph (A.J.) Nelson; special niece, Cindy Sue, and many other nieces and nephews. Deena was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Jack, Jim, and John Worthy, and two sisters Donna Creviston, and Avery Canik. There will be a visitation for Deena's friends and family at 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Ellers Mortuary Webster Street Chapel, 3400 South Webster Street, with the Funeral Service following at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Gary Foster officiating. Burial will follow at Kokomo Memorial Park.
