He was born Jan. 18, 1915, in Eldon, Ia. to George F. and Dula Hobbs Collins. He married Maxine DeHart on Dec. 21, 1934; she died on Dec. 30, 1982. He is survived by a daughter, Patricia Pickens of Ottumwa; a son, Gary of Atlanta; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and an infant brother, Russell. The service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, the Rev. Paul Miller of Trinity Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery in Ottumwa. O.B. Nelson Post 3 of American Legion is in charge of military services at the grave. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Michael, Steven, and David Pickens, Tim and Gary Collins Jr., Kevin VanEvery and Mike McGhghy.
