Son of Ralph Leroy Marker and Guyla Wilma Niswender OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, September 6, 2007 DELBERT DOYLE MARKER Delbert Doyle Marker was born Jan. 15, 1936, in Lucas County, Iowa, at home, to Ralph L. and Guyla Wilma (Niswender) Marker. He passed away Aug. 27, 2007, at home in Lazy Daz Ranch, near Melrose, at the age of 71 years, seven months and 15 days. Doyle grew up in the Norwood area and attended Norwood and other country schools around there. He attended three years at Chariton High School, but graduated from Lucas High School in 1954. He was united in marriage to Janice L. Langford on May 7, 1955. To this marriage, five boys were born, James, Clinton, David, Donald and Ronald. They moved to Des Moines shortly after their marriage, where they lived the next 10 years. In 1967, they moved to Farnhamville, Iowa for a year, where he had a blacksmith shop and did repairs for farm and construction equipment, built ornamental rails and worked for Coats in Ft. Dodge, Iowa. They moved back to Des Moines in 1968, where he started to work for The Iron Works, Ltd. He attended Tech High adult ecucation two semesters, taking auto body repair, which he did at home in his garage. Later on, he attended DMACC, where he took drafting. In 1991, they moved south of Melrose, to Lazy Daz Ranch, where he worked for Johnson Machine Works until 1998. He enjoyed hunting when he was younger, fishing and traveling later, building things, his gardening, and living near Lake Rathbun. He also loved old country music and visiting with everyone. He enjoyed his baseball, especially the Chicago Cubs. He worked diligently with Grandview Little League as a groundskeeper, coaching and managing teams, while his sons were playing and a little bit afterward. Doyle was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Marker, and one son, Clinton L. Marker. He is survived by his mother, Guyla, of Chariton; his wife, Janice, Lazy Daz Ranch; four sons, James (Linda) Marker, Des Moines, David (Shelly) Marker, Winterset, Don (Laurie) Marker, Indianola, and Ron (Cindy) Marker, Ankeny; one sister, Eva (Marion) Nicholson, Woodburn, one brother, Roger (Betty) Marker, Lucas; six grandchildren and one step-granddaughter. Services were held Friday, Aug. 31, at the Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton with Pastor Jack Langford officiating. Burial took place at the Norwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Leland Summy, Chad Jennings, Tony Bordenaro, Albert Punelli, Lenny Yacoavona and Jim Thompson. Honorary bearers were Bill Evans, Carl Jennings and Jim Strauss.
