Description	:	CLINTON, Iowa — Delbert E. Goettsch, age 83, of Clinton, Iowa, died Thursday Sept. 1, 2011, at Mercy North Living Center, Clinton. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the Pape Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Casket bearers will be members of his family and friends. Memorials may be given to Disabled American Veterans. Memorials may be given to Disabled American Veterans. Delbert was born on Aug. 25, 1928, in Goose Lake, Iowa, the son of George and Mary (Horner) Goettsch. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1954. He married Ardelle Ward on May 8, 1952, in Montgomery, Ala.; she died in 2010. Delbert worked at ALCOA for over 33 years as a pipefitter and in mill maintenance. He was a Golden Glove Boxing Champion in three different divisions. He was a member of the Goose Lake Arrowhead Hunting Preserve. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Delbert is survived by his three children, Martin (Carrie) Goettsch of Lafayette, N.Y., Lauren Goettsch of Coal Valley, Ill., and Elizabeth (Denis) Merigian of Grand Rapids, Mich.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Delores Parrish of Hurst, Texas, Vera (Ralph) Helm of Eagle Ridge, Ill., Marilyn (Robert) Petersen of Clinton, and Linda Friis of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
