Description	:	Delbert Burdette, 88, of rural Donnellson, died at Mercy Hospital. Born in Fort Madison, he was the son of George Elihu and Florence Sawyer Burdette. On Aug. 4, 1940, he married Ruby Catherine Wagner in Kahoka, Mo. She died Aug. 24, 2006. Mr. Burdette worked at Sheaffer Pen in Fort Madison and was a farmer. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Embury United Methodist Church in rural Donnellson. He loved his farm animals, dogs and gardening. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. The funeral was held at Embury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Barb Krueger officiating.
