Description	:	Delbert Lee Kerr, son of Leander and the late Pearl Kerr, was born near Salem, Iowa on December 1, 1909, and died at his home east of Salem, May 21, 1951, after an illness of several weeks, at the age of 41 years, 5 months and 20 days. All of his life was spent in the Salem and Mt. Pleasant communities, with the exception of about two years when he was employed in Rock Island, Illinois. Read More	Delbert Lee Kerr, son of Leander and the late Pearl Kerr, was born near Salem, Iowa on December 1, 1909, and died at his home east of Salem, May 21, 1951, after an illness of several weeks, at the age of 41 years, 5 months and 20 days. All of his life was spent in the Salem and Mt. Pleasant communities, with the exception of about two years when he was employed in Rock Island, Illinois. He was united in marriage with Dorothy Brown, December 25, 1936. To this union was born two children, Louise, 12, and Richard, 10. He leaves to mourn their loss, his wife and two children; his father, Leander Kerr, near Salem; two brothers, Raymond, Mt. Pleasant, and Dale of Winfield; several nephews and nieces and a large number of other close relatives and friends. His mother preceded him in death 2 1/2 years ago. Mr. Kerr was well known and highly respected among all who knew him. His congenial manner made for him a large circle of friends and he was always ready to lend a helping hand to relatives and friends, whenever the occasion demanded. The memorial services were held at the Friends Church in Salem, Tuesday afternoon, May 22. The auditorium and basement of the church were filled and many were standing outside, unable to find seating room in the church. The Rev. Arthur Moon, pastor of the Friends Church, officiated, and was assisted by the Rev. Jay N. Waterman, of the Congregational Church. The songs, "Above the Bright Blue," and "Beyond the Sunset", were sung by Mrs. Dorothy Payne and Mrs. Marguerite Pefferman, accompanied by Mrs. Leah Berry. Interment was in the Salem East Cemetery and cousins, who served as body bearers, were: Earl Stringer, Francis Trueblood, Dale Smith, Arthur McDowell, Ogden Brown, and Ernest McDowell. -- The Mt.
