DELBERT WAYNE WIESINGER was born February 23, 1934 at Lemmon, SD to Joseph and Winifred Wanda (Hill) Wiesinger. At an early age he survived polio and a ruptured appendix. He grew up on the family farm southeast of Shadehill, SD. Delbert attended Bronson Country School and high school in Lemmon graduating in 1951. He worked on the family farm near Shadehill, at the Coop Gas Station and Cliffs Texaco in Lemmon. He also operated a rural mail route for the US Postal Service. On February 11, 1956, he was united in marriage to Esther Seidel. Five daughters were born to this union, Delretta, Darci, Dennetta, Dianna, and Dorri. Delbert continued working on the family farm and purchased the farm in 1974. He worked as a crop adjuster for 20 years starting in 1989. He served on the Lemmon Equity Exchange Board, and was on the Board of Directors at Dakota Plains Federal Credit Union. Delbert was a founding member and lead guitarist of the Pearly Shells Band, which started in 1976. His passion was music and playing guitar. It was a gift from God. He played by ear and purchased his first guitar at age 13. He loved a good joke, and was as honest as the day was long. His life's motto was "Live and Let Live". In September of 2000, Delbert was united in marriage to Lucy (Coffing) Miller. They resided in Hettinger. He has been battling cancer for the past six years. Delbert passed away peacefully, listening to his favorite guitar music, on Friday, July 16, 2010 at Western Horizons Care Center in Hettinger. Delbert is survived by his wife, Lucy Miller, Hettinger, ND; 2 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Delretta Halvorson, Lemmon, SD, and Dianna and Alex Abadayan, Kansas City, KS; Allen Jordan, Sioux Falls, SD; 5 grandchildren, Jamie Halvorson, Deby Jo (Greg) McNally, Maria (Sean) Vandewalle, Holly Abadayan, and Alexis Abadayan; 3 great grandchildren, Isaac and Sydney McNally, and Caleb Vandewalle; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters and brothers-in-law; his extended family, Greg (Marilyn) Miller, Brainerd, MN, Susan (Doug) Roele, Fargo, ND, Lisa (Larry) Chalcraft, Bismarck, ND and families. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Esther on March 21, 1997, three daughters, Darci, Dennetta, and Dorri, one brother, Joe Wiesinger, one sister, Azalia Broesamle, and son-in-law, Kevin Halvorson. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 to 6:00pm at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Lemmon. A memorial has been established to Feed My Starving Children, 401 93rd Ave NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55433 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
