Description	:	Obituary for Deliah Maudlin Brown Delia Maudlin, daughter of Mark Maudlin and Deliah Stephenson Maudlin was born near Livonia, Indiana, June 28, 1855 and departed this life at her home near Leipsic, Indiana, March 7, 1931, aged 76 years, 8 months and 6 days. In December 1871 she was married to John W. Brown, who preceded her to the great beyond, June 16, 1918. To this union six children were born, one of whom died in infancy. In December 1871 she was married to John W. Brown, who preceded her to the great beyond, June 16, 1918. To this union six children were born, one of whom died in infancy. In addition to the children, she leaves two sisters to mourn her departure, Mrs. Amanda Childs of Campbellsburg, Indiana and Mrs. John Freed of Leipsic; five grandchildren also survive. Under the ministry of Rev. Minnie Thorne she united with the United Brethren Church at Leipsic. As a mother and neighbor she was kind and unselfish, always regarding the good of others. Her demise brings to our minds the certainty of death, yet there remains this consolation, that she is not dead, but sleepeth, is now and ever will be present in mind and memory and whose deeds will ever live to remind us that she is on a pleasant journey to receive a just reward, beckoning by precept and example that we follow and be thereby the better enabled to enjoy the great beauties and blessings of this life. It can and will be said of her that her work was well and faithfully done. A good woman has gone out from among us. Peace to her soul. "Thy day has come, not gone; Thy sun has risen, not set: Thy life is now beyond The reach of death or chance; Not ended--but begun O noble Soul! O gentle heart! Hail and farewell." Note: There is a discrepancy about the date of birth. Her tombstone says June 1, 1853; however, her obituary states June 28, 1855. On her death certificate, January 28, 1855 is given as the date of birth. If one uses the calculation given in her obituary and on her death certificate, 76 years, 8 month and 6 days, her date of birth would be July 1, 1854.
