Description	:	Update of September 13, 2021: An obituary was published in the "Ottumwa Daily Courier," and also in the "Burlington Hawk-Eye Gazette," for Delilah Wallace on October 16, 1954. I have transcribed the obituary from Ottumwa below. The obituary in the Burlington newspaper had the same information. In the 1885 Iowa State Census, Delila Walton's birth county was shown as Franklin. Delila married John E. Wallace on January 11, 1887, in Hancock County, Iowa. Her name is spelled Delilah on the marriage record, in her husband's obituary, several of the census records, on her death certificate, and in her obituaries. For the purpose of this memorial, I will use the spelling of Delila on her gravestone. Delilah's obituary stated that she died at the home of her daughter in Revere, Mo. According to Delilah's death certificate, she died in Rural Jefferson Township, not in the town of Revere itself. I have transcribed the obituary as written. --------------- Obituary From "Ottumwa Daily Courier," Saturday, October 16, 1954, Page 11: MRS. DELILAH WALLACE. KEOSAUQUA. – Mrs. Delilah Ellen Wallace, 83, of near Keosauqua, died Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A.J. Martin at Revere, Mo., where she had been living two months. She had been in ill health about two years. She was born February 18, 1871, at Oakland Valley, the daughter of Charles and Mary Ellen Turk Walton. She was married January 12 [sic], 1887, to John Wallace of Pittsburg, near Keosauqua. He died August 30, 1935. Surviving are three sons, Charles Wallace of Kalona, John R. Wallace of San Francisco and Paul Wallace of Adel; two daughters, Mrs. Lila Vineyard of Stockport and Mrs. Martin of Revere; and one nephew whom she reared, Richard R. Walton of Elkhart, Ind. The body is at the Burnett-Catcott funeral home here, where services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Pittsburg cemetery.
