Description	:	Della B. Pickett Petrakos, 84, of Hanover, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at St. Catherine Regional Hospital in Charlestown. She was born Oct. 5, 1924, in Switzerland County, the daughter of Donald Lee and Beulah Mae Hambrick Pickett. She was raised in Switzerland and Jefferson counties. She married Ingram Rudd Petrakos. She worked at the U.S. Shoe factory in Vevay for 35 years, retiring in the 1980s. Early in life she worked at the Charlestown Ammunition Plant. Pickett Petrakos, 84, of Hanover, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at St. Catherine Regional Hospital in Charlestown. She was born Oct. 5, 1924, in Switzerland County, the daughter of Donald Lee and Beulah Mae Hambrick Pickett. She was raised in Switzerland and Jefferson counties. She married Ingram Rudd Petrakos. She worked at the U.S. Shoe factory in Vevay for 35 years, retiring in the 1980s. Early in life she worked at the Charlestown Ammunition Plant. She had also owned and operated a restaurant in Cincinnati, Ohio, for several years. She was a member of Switzerland Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, sewing, working puzzles, playing cards and watching birds. She is survived by two daughters, Ingrid T. Peters and Darlene Roberts, both of Vevay; two sisters, Flora Althoff of Bennington and Edna Moore of Hanover; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, John D. Petrakos, who died July 29, 2005; her parents; one brother, Loren Pickett; and two sisters, Mary Catherine Leatherbury and Charlotte Mayfield. The funeral was at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2009, at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Burial in Vevay Cemetery. Friends called at the funeral home Friday, July 31, 2009, from 5 to 8 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society or Switzerland Baptist Church. (Pickett) Petrakos, age 84, of Hanover, Indiana, entered this life on October 5, 1924, in Switzerland County, Indiana, the daughter of Donald Lee & Beulah Mae (Hambrick) Pickett, both of whom preceded her in death. She was raised in Switzerland & Jefferson Counties, where she attended school. Della was united in marriage to Ingram Rudd Petrakos & to this union arrived two daughters & a son to bless their home. Della was employed in the fitting department on the die out machine for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana, retiring in the 80's after 35 years of service. Early in her life she was employed at the Charlestown Ammunition Plant in Charlestown, Indiana & owned & operated a restaurant in Cincinnati, Ohio, for several years. Della was a member of the Switzerland Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her love of reading, sewing, working puzzles, playing cards & watching birds. Della died Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at 11:10 pm at the St. Catherine Regional Hospital in Charlestown, Indiana. A LOVING FAMILY Della will be lovingly remembered by her daughters: Ingrid T. Peters of Vevay, Indiana; Darlene Roberts & her husband: Joe of Vevay, Indiana; her grandchildren: Tycia, Raquel, Melissa, James, Shanai, Ashlie, Vince & Joelle; her great grandchildren: Danielle, Ryan, Kaitlin, Chelsea, Elizabeth, Quinten, Addysen, Drew, Ava, Amira, Renee, Rochelle, Casideigh & Rachel; her step-great grandchild: Corey; her great-great grandchildren: Mallory & Madalynn; her sisters: Flora Althoff of Bennington, Indiana; Edna Moore of Hanover, Indiana; several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: Donald Lee & Beulah Mae (Hambrick) Pickett, her son: John D. Petrakos died 7/29/2005; her son-in-law: Harold Wayne Peters died 2/20/2009; her brother: Loren Pickett; her sisters: Mary Catherine Leatherbury & Charlotte Mayfield. FUNERAL CEREMONY Funeral services were conducted Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 11:00 am, by Rev. Mike LaFountain & Rev. Grant Gaines at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana. Interment followed in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana. VISITATION Friends called 5:00-8:00 pm, Friday, July 31, 2009, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana.
