Description	:	Born May 29, 1921, Della was the eldest daughter of Sam and Ivy Phelps of Mirror. Their love and guidance instilled in her the values by which she lived all her life – honesty, simplicity, and a love of family, friends and God. She had a strong work ethic and would turn her hand to any task. In 1941, she met and married Harold Slinger of Delburne. They farmed there until 1947, then purchased and ran the Erskine Hardware. Read More	Born May 29, 1921, Della was the eldest daughter of Sam and Ivy Phelps of Mirror. Their love and guidance instilled in her the values by which she lived all her life – honesty, simplicity, and a love of family, friends and God. She had a strong work ethic and would turn her hand to any task. In 1941, she met and married Harold Slinger of Delburne. They farmed there until 1947, then purchased and ran the Erskine Hardware. Their family was complete with the addition of a son and daughter. In 1953, they sold the hardware and moved to Trochu where they bought the Lane Theatre managing it successfully until 1970. They retired to Red Deer, living there until Harold's passing. She spent the last two years in Rimbey, close to her family. Della's life revolved around Harold and she accompanied him in his pursuits – even learning to fish and cheer at horseshoe tournaments. She enjoyed gardening and both flower and vegetable patches were tended with loving care. She was seldom idle, and could be found with embroidery or crochet close at hand while hours were spent sewing and baking. While in Erskine, Della joined the Rebekah Lodge, transferring to Alberta #77 in Red Deer where she remained a dedicated member until her passing. Excerpt from The Red Deer Advocate
