Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Read More	Della Mae Wirtz, age 88, of Boone, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the Madrid Nursing Home. Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Inurnment will be in Boone Memorial Gardens in Boone. Born in Perry, Iowa on August 15, 1932, Della was the daughter of James and Rebbecca (Shaw) Deal. Della's father worked for the railroad and they lived in many different places before settling in Boone. She was united in marriage to Leo A. Wirtz on December 23, 1950 in Boone. In earlier years, Della and Leo owned and operated "The Office" Lounge and Blue Cloud Café in Boone. Della was then a homemaker, raising the couple's seven children. She enjoyed crafting, sewing and knitting. In her free time, Della could be found reading William Johnson books. She loved playing BINGO four nights per week. Della is survived by three daughters: Roberta "Bobbii" (Michael) Doyle of Texas, Jackie (Dennis) Askland of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Linda (Doug) Clarke of Boone; two sons: William "Bill" Wirtz of Northwood and Carl Wirtz of Boone; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Harriman of Oregon. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leo, Sr.; two sons: Leo Wirtz, Jr. and David Wirtz; a brother, Casper "Cass" (Donna) Deal; and two sisters: Virginia Hendricks and Nannie Bovis. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall in Boone. The family is requesting no flowers due to allergies, plants are preferred or memorials may be directed to the family of Della Wirtz, c/o Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, P.O.
