He was preceded in death by his siblings Verna Fry, Mary Ott, Harold Ford, Virginia McCabe, Rita Peabody, Nora DiFelice, Wilma Clausen, and Jean Saunders, and two great grandchildren Hayden and Carter Miller. Delmar was born September 4, 1927, on the farm northeast of Kalona, the son of Lester and Loretta Michael Ford. He went to grade school in Luzerne and graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1946. Delmar and his brother Harold worked at two local implement dealers as mechanics. Following Harold's passing, Delmar became a self-employed farmer, farm machinery mechanic and lawn mower dealer. He served on ASCS County Committee for several terms. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on the Church Council. Delmar was also a former member of the Brooklyn Fire Department.
