Description	:	**IN LOVING MEMORY** Funeral services for Delno Leroy Pettyjohn, 81, of Hamilton, who died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004 at Knoxville Area Community Hospital, were held Sunday, Feb. 1, at Gilbert Funeral Chapel. Rev. Forrest Durham officiated at the services. Music was provided by Julie Bettis, organist and soloist. Interment was at the Marysville Cemetery. Casket bearers were Rusty Roberts, Jacob Meister, Troy Roberts, Steve Pettyjohn, Matthew Wilson, and Randy Pettyjohn. Honorary bearers were Mindy Meister, Joseph Pettyjohn, and Dick Ouelette. Delno was born on Feb. 23, 1922, in Marysville, to Walter Leroy Pettyjohn and Elsie Eileen Barnhill. He attended school through the eighth grade and received his GED. He served in the United States Navy from 1941-1945, on LST 5 in North Africa, Salerno, Sicily, and Omaha Beach. He married Nora Belle Mavin on Jan. 11, 1945, in Knoxville. He worked in the coal mines for almost six years, at the Maytag factory in Newton until 1949 and at the Natural Gas Pipeline from 1950-1987. He lived in Fairbury, Ill. from 1952-1983. He was a member of the U.S. LST Association, and enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting in his younger years. He was a very devout Chicago Cubs fan, and among his favorite things was just being outdoors and spending time with his family and L.S.T. Navy buddies. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; four sisters; and infant son, Delno Pettyjohn, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Nora; a son and his wife, Michael Dean and Donna Pettyjohn of Brenham, Texas; two daughters and their husbands, Marcia Carol and John Wilson of Berwyn, Ill. and Marta Kay and Ben Meister of Fairbury, Ill.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephew that he was close to; two brothers, Malcolm Berle and wife Thelma of Oskaloosa and Lowell Raymond and wife Barbara of Knoxville;a brother-in-law, Eddie McMurray of Kingston, Ill.; and six sisters, Virgie Pinegar of Knoxville, Juanita Wallace of Mitchellville, Ramona Bennett and husband Leslie of Harvey, Dorothy Goodsell of Knoxville, Verna Means and husband Donnie of Milan, Ill. and Annette Roberts of Marysville.
