Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kramer Funeral Home, Holy Cross, where a parish scripture service will be held at 4 p.m. Mrs. Ruden worked at the Ertl Toy Company in Dyersville and later worked as a clerk at the post office in Holy Cross. She was born on March 10, 1924, in Holy Cross, daughter of Peter and Cecelia (Meyer) Schmitt. She married Louie Ruden on Nov. 4, 1947, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, in Dubuque; he preceded her in death in 1991. To all of her family and friends, Deloras was known as Grandma Ruden. In her younger days, she loved fishing and playing bingo. She never missed children's and grandchildren's ball games. She loved going to all the ball games in Holy Cross and did so until she couldn't anymore. She also loved her Yankees. She always enjoyed a good card game and cherished her vacations with her family in Branson, Mo. Throughout her life her flower beds were her passion. Surviving are three sons, Rick (Ruth), of Cresco, Jack (Sharon), of Epworth, and Ken (Janet Engelken), of Holy Cross; four daughters, Lou Ann (Gene) Roling, of Dyersville, Kathy (Dan) Schmitt, of Rickardsville, Janie (Mike) Meyer, of Elkport, and Becky (Bill) Niehaus, of Holy Cross; 22 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; and four sisters. Additional information and online condolences may be left for the family at www.kramerfuneral.com.
