Read More	Delores “Dee” Carlson, 92, died Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Good Samaritan Village. She was born on February 14, 1923 in Sioux Falls, SD to Espen and Agnes (Kjonegaard/Whitmer) Madsen. Dee attended Lodi Country School near Wakonda, SD and graduated from Wakonda High School. She worked at Windcharger Corporation in Sioux City for a short period after high school before moving to Denver, CO to get married. Dee married Wayne Carlson on June 12, 1943 in Denver, CO where Wayne was serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. After his discharge, they returned to SD and farmed for a few years in the Wakonda area before moving to Sioux Falls where they lived, worked and raised their four children: Jerrie, Donna, Ron and Dick. Dee lived and worked the majority of her life in Sioux Falls. She worked at the Sheraton Carpenter, Sheraton Cataract, Lynn’s Studio, Airport Restaurant, Dayton’s and Sunshine Food Store. She was the business agent for the Hotel and Restaurant Association for numerous years. She was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church for many years and was active in Circle during that time. She enjoyed and actively participated in bowling, bingo and Democratic politics. Her large extended family was the joy of her life. Grateful for having shared her life, are her, daughter, Jerrie Johnson, Portland, OR; two sons: Ron Carlson, and his wife, Susan, Sioux Falls, and Dick Carlson,and his wife, Diana, Houston, TX; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Dee is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Dawn Carlson, Amanda Johnson, Betty Stinnett, Leone Carlson and Helen Carlson, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, in June 1979; daughter, Donna Feltman and her husband, Raymond; parents, Espen and Agnes Madsen; her sister, Marjorie Jensen and her son-in-law, Duane Johnson. Dees funeral service will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, March 9, 2015 at Augustana Lutheran Church, 235 N. Prairie. Her family will be present on Sunday, March 8 from 3-5:00PM at George Boom Funeral Home, 3408 E 10th Street. There will be a prayer service beginning at 4:30 PM.
