Description	:	Delores Elaine Rittgers, 75, of Ames, died Monday, March 7, at Arbor Rose Hospice in Mesa, Az. Funeral services will be at 11 am Monday, March 14, at Palestine Lutheran Church in Huxley, with the Rev. Donald Dovre officiating. Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery. Delores Elaine Rittgers was born April 13, 1929, in Des Moines, the daughter of Silas B and Elizabeth (Saveraid) Sheldahl. She lived in Huxley for most of her life. She married Harold Rittgers on June 14, 1952, in Huxley. She was a teacher in the Ballard School District for 32 years, retiring in 1988. She also taught three years in Jewell and two years in Grimes. She was an active lifetime member of Palestine Lutheran Church where she was baptized, confirmed and married. She is survived by her husband, Harold Rittgers of Ames; two sons, Roger (Lorraine) Rittgers of Elkhart and Mark (Mary) Rittgers of Frankfort, ILL; two sisters, Nancy (Arlie) Sheehy of Omaha Neb and Ramona Freed of Laguna Hills, Calif; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one granddaughter. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 pm Sunday, March 13 at Palestine Lutheran Church in Huxley. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be given to the Palestine Lutheran Church Addition Fund. Soderstum-Riss Funeral Home in Slater is in charge of arrangements.
