Description	:	Delores Van Gelder (Rogers), age 90, went to be with the Lord on June 24, 2021, surrounded by her family at Ava's House Hospice Care. She was born August 16, 1930 in Parker, South Dakota to William and Lilly (Allen) Rogers. She grew up on a farm near Parker and graduated from Parker high school in 1948. Read More	Delores Van Gelder (Rogers), age 90, went to be with the Lord on June 24, 2021, surrounded by her family at Ava's House Hospice Care. She was born August 16, 1930 in Parker, South Dakota to William and Lilly (Allen) Rogers. She grew up on a farm near Parker and graduated from Parker high school in 1948. She attended General Beadle College in Madison, South Dakota and received her teaching certificate. She taught in rural schools for eight years. She was united in marriage to Ralph Van Gelder on February 14, 1956 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They made their home in Sioux Falls. Delores worked part time at Western Bank until moving to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1976. She and Ralph owned and operated several apartment complexes for two years in Colorado Springs They then moved to Arvada Colorado in 1979. After Ralph's retirement from Asphalt Paving, they moved back to Sioux Falls in 1993. Delores was an active member of the First Reformed Church where she taught Sunday school, Bible school, and Catechism. She also was a member of Bible study groups, Circle, and Guild. She was a member of the Neighborhood Extension Club. Delores enjoyed sewing, crocheting, embroidering, crafts, and volunteering. She remembered every birthday and special event with a carefully chosen card. Her family called her "Mrs. Hallmark". Her life was characterized by her caring smile. Her satisfaction in life was taking pride in being a homemaker and caring for her family. She always seemed to know their needs and will be deeply missed. Those left to cherish her memories are her two daughters Rindy (Terry) Thompson, Sioux Falls; Lori (Jerome) McCain, Sioux Falls, two sons, Lonnie (Ruth) Van Gelder, Hartford, SD. LaRon (Terri) Van Gelder Arvada, CO; three granddaughters, Kylah (Wade) Jellema, Hills, MN; her precious granddaughter, Jaci Thompson, who preceded her in death in 1997. Nicole (Paul) Skattum, Brighton, CO; two step grandchildren, Nicole (Tony, who preceded her in death Jan. 2021) Tsadik; Austin (Jen) Buskohl; one great grandson Gabriel Tsadik. A sister, Joan (Gerald) Brown, Humboldt, SD; one brother William (Rose) Rogers, Sioux Falls. Delores was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph; her parents, one sister Gladys Begeman and a host of family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to First Reformed Church in Sioux Falls or Ava's House Hospice Care in Sioux Falls. A funeral service for Delores will begin at 1:00 pm Monday, June 28, 2021 at the First Reformed Church in Sioux Falls; burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery, Parker.
