Deloris Draper, was born February 25, 1922, near Blairsburg, IA, the daughter of William L. and Irene (Scott) Draper. She attended country schools near Blairsburg and Dows. She graduated from Dows High School in the Class of 1940. On January 23, 1943, Deloris was united in marriage to Ernest Story in Dows, IA. Following their marriage they farmed near Blairsburg for 11 years, moving to a farm near Galt, IA, in 1954 where they retired and moved to Dows in 1979. Deloris was an active member of the Dows United Methodist Church. She held various service offices on the church board and also the Women's Group. She was a member of the Dows Social Club, the Jolly Mother's Club, Alexander Winter Card Club, and the Red Hat Dollies, as well as the Dows Golf Course. She had been a resident of the Nelson Manor Care Facility for the past year and a half. Deloris is survived by her son, Roger Story, Joplin MO, a daughter, Roberta "Bobbi" Story, Pleasant Hill, IA; grandchildren, Nathan (Sarah) Echelberger and Nicole (Brad) Cope, and seven great grandchildren; a brother, Virgil (Opal) Draper, Belmond, IA, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Irene Draper, husband, Ernest in 1996, brother Gerald and his wife Eloise Draper, nephew Timothy Draper, and nieces Nancy Draper, Kathy Draper, Linda Whipple, and Susan Graham.
