Description	:	Delphene A. Blundell, 85, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007 at Avera Prince of Peace Nursing Home, Sioux Falls, S.D. Delphene was born on March 1, 1922 at Hurley, S.D. Her parents were Emil and Leona (Lange) Allen and she graduated from Hurley High School. After attending Yankton College she taught school in Salem and Scotland, S.D. Blundell, 85, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007 at Avera Prince of Peace Nursing Home, Sioux Falls, S.D. Delphene was born on March 1, 1922 at Hurley, S.D. Her parents were Emil and Leona (Lange) Allen and she graduated from Hurley High School. After attending Yankton College she taught school in Salem and Scotland, S.D. On Sept. 19, 1942 she was united in marriage to Frederick Blundell at Hartington, Neb. They lived in California where she finished her education at San Diego State College and worked for the San Diego School System in early childhood development for 28 years, retiring in 1982. They moved back to South Dakota in 1986 to an acreage south of Marion and in 1996 moved to Sioux Falls. She enjoyed very much to travel, loved fishing and to play duplicate bridge. Her husband died in 2001. Grateful for having shared her life are three children: Frederick Jr. and wife RoseAnn, Escondido, Calif., Michael and wife Kathleen, Spokane, Wash., and Deanne Harris, Sioux Falls; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren; and a brother Ralph, Sioux Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother Hubert. Private family services will be held at the Hurley Cemetery at a later date.
