Description	:	Delvin 'Del' L. Berger, age 71, of Barnes, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at the Colmery-O’Neil VA Medical Center in Topeka. Del was born March 25, 1947, at Marysville, to Orville F. and Kathryn M. (Klocke) Berger. He graduated from Barnes High School in 1965 then joined the Kansas Army National Guard. On December 30, 1972, he married Elaine J. Blaske at Zion Lutheran Church in Linn. Del had worked for Landoll Corporation as a Powder Coat Paint Booth Operator until recently. (Klocke) Berger. He graduated from Barnes High School in 1965 then joined the Kansas Army National Guard. On December 30, 1972, he married Elaine J. Blaske at Zion Lutheran Church in Linn. Del had worked for Landoll Corporation as a Powder Coat Paint Booth Operator until recently. He was also a farmer and stockman on the family’s farm northwest of Waterville. Del was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Waterville, where he had served on the Church Council. He was a member of the John Doerr Post 145 of the American Legion in Barnes and the Barnes Fire Department. He had served on the board of directors for the Waterville COOP, and for over thirty years as President of the Washington County Farmer’s Union. Del was known to be ornery and for his one liners, but also as a hard worker who wanted things done right. He also worked to try and make his little corner of the world just a little bit better. And, you probably wouldn’t recognize him if he didn’t have suspenders on and a diet Mountain Dew in his hand. Survivors include his wife Elaine, his children; Suzette (Adam) Yungeberg of Barnes and Ben (Holly) Berger of Marysville, a brother Ivan (Janet) Berger of Barnes and three grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother Rollin Berger. Viewing is from noon to 8:00 pm, Sunday, with visitation between 6:00 and 8:00 pm, at Terry-Christie Funeral Home in Waterville. Funeral services are at 10:30 am, Monday, March 4, 2019, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Waterville with Sister Mary Arie officiating. Music is to include “In The Garden” sung by Paula Landoll-Smith and congregational hymns of “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Peace Like A River”, accompanied by Deb Landoll. A pre-recorded selection of “Well Done” will also be played. Casket Bearers are: Jim Ronnebaum, Gary Lindquist, Danny Lundberg, Eric Berger, Ann Platt and Alan Richter. Honorary Bearers are; Ashlee May, Kaylie May, Macie Behrens, Raegan Berger, Brandon Lundberg, Bill Lundberg, Bob Whearty and the Landoll Paint Line Crew. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery with Military Honors provided by a detail from the Kansas Army National Guard Honor Detail and John Doerr Post 145 of the American Legion. Memorials are suggested to the Delvin Berger Memorial Fund, to be designated later, and may be sent in care of Terry-Christie Funeral Home at PO Box 61, Waterville, Kansas 66548.
