Description	:	Delvin (Del) Lloyd Zwicky was born August 10, 1925, in Jefferson, IA, oldest son of Harry and Daisy (Millard) Zwicky. Del grew up 8½ miles north of Jefferson on Hwy 17, presently Hwy 4. Read More	Delvin (Del) Lloyd Zwicky was born August 10, 1925, in Jefferson, IA, oldest son of Harry and Daisy (Millard) Zwicky. Del grew up 8½ miles north of Jefferson on Hwy 17, presently Hwy 4. As a young man he helped on the family farm. In winter he loved to hunt and trap in the nearby countryside. He attended Dawson #9, a one room Country School, through eighth grade. Del graduated in 1942 from Jefferson High School. Del married Lucille Winkelman on June 9, 1946 at Churdan Methodist Church. They were the parents of three children: Becky, Mel and Candy. Del and Lucille's brother, Ralph Winkelman, opened Z & W Electric Store in 1948 on the square in Jefferson. Del dissolved that partnership and opened Del's Farm Service in 1953 on the family farm. He specialized in wiring, plumbing, tiling and pump service. The summer months while the children were young, the family raised squash, melons and pumpkins to sell at a stand on their farm. Later on, Del and Virgil Averill started A to Z Construction and fertilizer business. They custom spread liquid and dry fertilizer for West Central Coop. Del and Virgil also constructed Behlen grain bins around Iowa. Del and Lucille owned Del's Drive Inn on Hwy 30 in 1971. Later, they both became successful real estate brokers and salespersons for Miller Eggimann Real Estate, which later became Marso Peckumn Real Estate & Farm Management. In 1987, Ron Zwicky became a partner with Del in the fertilizer business. Later in 1989, Del sold his portion of the partnership to Doug Walker. Now being officially retired (if you know him, you know that is not really true), Del and Lucille spent winters traveling to Texas and Arizona. Retirement involved fishing, gardening, flea marketing, auctions, playing poker and cards, metal detecting and collecting many things. No one could list all his many interests and talents. Del loved the outdoors and had quite the green thumb, always making sure he had the best and the biggest! He was most generous with the fruits of his labors. Everyone will miss his willingness to share his wealth of knowledge. Lucille passed away November 19, 1999 aboard a cruise ship in Panama. Del later married Iva Johnson on April 26, 2003, at the Gospel Open Bible Church in Jefferson. Del died November 17, 2004, while wintering in Grove, OK. Preceding him in death were his parents, sister Goldina Gill and brother John Zwicky. Survivors include his wife Iva; children: Becky Hunt of Santa Cruz, CA; Mel (Margaret) of Seattle, WA and Candy (Terry) Hoyle of Jefferson; three grandchildren: Amber Richardson, Thad (Jen) Rich and Tate Rich; two great granddaughters: Marley and Avree Rich; several step-children, step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; many friends and relatives. Funeral service was 2:00 Monday at First United Methodist Church in Jefferson. Interment was at Highland Township Cemetery at Churdan. Friends called at Slininger-Rossow Funeral home in Jefferson between 9-9 Sunday. Family was present to greet friends 6:00-8:30 Sunday. Memorials were suggested to Greene County Medical Center.
