Description	:	Delwin Hadeen Johnson, 86 years of age, of Kearney, Nebraska (formally of rural Loomis) passed away on Friday, June 15, 2007 at the Mt. Carmel Home in Kearney. He was born April 26, 1921 in Phillips County, Colorado near Haxtun, one of eight children of Roy Eugene and Hannah Ruth (Hadeen) Johnson. He received his education from District #14 School in Phelps County also known as the Moses Hill School. Read More	Delwin Hadeen Johnson, 86 years of age, of Kearney, Nebraska (formally of rural Loomis) passed away on Friday, June 15, 2007 at the Mt. Carmel Home in Kearney. He was born April 26, 1921 in Phillips County, Colorado near Haxtun, one of eight children of Roy Eugene and Hannah Ruth (Hadeen) Johnson. He received his education from District #14 School in Phelps County also known as the Moses Hill School. Following his education, Delwin farmed with family and for neighbors until leaving for his military service in October 1942. He served in the U.S. Army's 818th Tank Destroyer Battalion during World War II in the European Theatre until his honorable discharge on October 4, 1945. Delwin then returned to Phelps County and resumed farming northwest of Holdrege. On October 26, 1947 he was united in marriage to Grace Elizabeth Duryea and to this union two children were born: Ronald and Karen. The family made their home on a farm three miles west and three and a half miles north of Holdrege. Following his retirement from farming and cow/calf operation, Delwin moved into Holdrege. On October 9, 1999 he was preceded in death by his wife, Grace. Delwin was a member of the Moses Hill Covenant Church of rural Loomis, also a member of Loomis American Legion Post #338; the V.F.W. in Bertrand, Nebraska, member of the Salers Cattle Association; and active as a 4-H leader. In November of 2000, Delwin was presented with other veterans by the Holdrege Public Schools with an honorary high school diploma. He leaves to mourn his passing his son, Ron Johnson and his wife, Sharon of Red Oak, Iowa; his daughter, Karen Smith and her husband, Dr. Roy Smith of DeWitt, Nebraska; seven grandchildren: Daniel Johnson and his wife, Jacqueline, Rachel Hall and her husband, Christopher, Joel Johnson, Connie Smith, Karla White and her husband, Dennis, Laura Smith and Deanna Smith; two great-grandchildren: Gabriel and Hope White; one brother, Kermit Johnson and his wife, Elaine of Holdrege, Nebraska; three sisters: Merna Smith and her husband, Darrell of Bertrand, Nebraska; LaVon "Bonnie" Samuelson and her husband, E.L. of Holdrege, Betty Jacobson and her husband, Warren of Holdrege, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Wesley Ryden of Topeka, Kansas and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides his wife, Grace, he was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Norma Ryden and Sadie Kimberling; and a brother, Ray Eugene Johnson in infancy.
