Mrs. Amen died Friday evening at a local nursing home where she had resided the past 10 months. She was born Nov. 19, 1893, at Norfolk to the late Philip and Elizabeth Schmer. She married George Amen on Dec. 19, 1912. They farmed in the Norfolk vicinity many years until moving into Norfolk in 1961. Mrs. Amen was a longtime member of Zion Congregational Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1975, one daughter, two brothers, one sister and one grandchild. Surviving are three sons and three daughters, Ed of Norfolk, Harold of Cleveland, Ohio, Robert of Chadron, Mrs. Clyde (Leothia) Spaulding of Casper, Wyo., Mrs. Winston (Berniece) Zastrow of Clarendon Hills, Ill., and Mrs. Lorraine Westerfield of Tyler, Texas, 24 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one brother, and two sisters, William Schmer and Mrs. Katie Carstensen of Norfolk and Mrs. Lena dahl of Fremont. all spelling and punctuation as it appeared in the paper (GH)
