DeWall of Okoboji township were held Monday afternoon. Nov. 6. at the Cobb chapel in Spencer. The services were conducted by the Rev. A. S. Beckman, pastor of the Evangelistic church, assisted by the Rev.Schoon, pastor of the First Reformed church. Mr. and Mrs. Herman DeWall of Morris, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Ira Tlam of Dunnell, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Taggart of Redfield, la.; Sidney Havtman of Winterset, la.: Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Clifton of Nora Springs, la. Dena DeWall, daughter of George and Gertie Groenewold, was born near Steamboat Rock, Hardin county, la., Sept. 24, 1876. She came to Clay county with her parents in 1884. She was married to Claus J. DeWall March 12, 1896. They established their home in Summit Township where they resided until 1923 when they moved to their present home in Dickinson county. Mrs. DeWall had been in failing health for the past five years. In May, 1939, she suffered a stroke and her condition grew gradually worse and three weeks ago she was taken to the Spencer hospital where she passed away, November 3. 1939 at the age of 63 years , one month and ten days. She is survived by her husband, Claus J. DeWall; a son, Harvey; a grandson, Glen; one brother, Jerden Groenewold, and one sister, Ida Ringering. Her parents, one brother, Jacob, and one sister Ella Janssen, all preceded her in death.
