Read More	5 September 1990, Moravia, Appanoose County, Iowa Denis Eugene Pfannebecker was born at Centerville, Iowa, June 21, 1947, the son of Ralph E. and Fanchen J. Minnick Pfannebecker. They lived in Moravia until he was three, when they moved to a farm east of Walnut City. They later moved to a farm west of Walnut City and he attended the Shaffer and Timothy Ridge rural schools. In 1958, they moved to the farm near Udell and he was graduated from the Moulton-Udell Community High School with the Class of 1965. Following high school, Denis was employed at the Maytag Company in Newton for a short time. He then returned to the Udell and Centerville areas where in conjunction with farming, he was employed at Union Carbide for 10 years and later at Young Radiator for a year and a half. On June 1, 1973, Denis was untited in marriage with Reta Brown Bowen at Lancaster, Missouri. They made their home on their present farm southwest of Udell where he took great pride in his farm and family. Denis died Thursday evening, August 16, 1990 at the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Centerville, from injuries suffered while helping a neighbor demolish a house. At the time of his sudden death, he had reached the age of 43 years, 1 month, and 25 days. He was a member of the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, Farm Bureau and was currently a leader of the Wells Rustlers 4-H Club. Denis was preceeded in death by his father, Ralph E. Pfannebecker, on May 15, 1987. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Reta of Udell; five daughters, Kathy and husband Barry Horn, and Lisa Nail, all of Centerville, and Tanya, Stacy and Jana Pfannebecker at home; three grandchildren, Jason Horn, Ashley Nail and Kandus Jellison; his mother, Fanchen Pfannebecker of Udell; three brothers, Derrill Pfannebecker and wife Marjorie of Centerville, Dwight Pfannebecker and Julie Cardani of Centerville, Dan Pfannebecker of Denison, Iowa, and one half-brother, David Ashby of Missoula, Montana. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends. He deeply loved his family and farming, and was always ready and willing to help someone in need. Funeral services were held Sunday, August 19, 1990, at the Duley Funeral Home in Centerville. Rev. Jerry Weller was the presiding clergyman. Vocalist Don Kaster sang "One Day At A Time" and "You'll Never Walk Alone". Organist was Sharon Lowenberg. Casket bearers included Dennie Fenton, Steve Probasco, Rick Burkland, Cleroyd Swarts, Doyle Spring, Roger Marvin, Greg Mobley and Alan Boetctcher. Interment was in Hillcrest Cemetery at Moravia. Duley Funeral Home in Centerville was in charge of arrangements.
