Denny was born on May 15, 1939 in Minturn, Colorado, but lived most of his early life in Verdigre, Nebraska. Following his service in the U.S. Army from 1957-1960, Denny married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Ann Vonasek. They raised three children, Becky, Greg and Beth. The family moved to Arlington, Texas in 1963, where Denny was hired on at General Motors assembly plant, working his way up the ranks from janitor to management. Nicknamed "Bo" by his fellow GM workers, Denny was known for his colorful jokes and stories exchanged with his colleagues as he roamed the plant inspecting vehicles. Denny and Ruthie started their own screen printing and apparel business, Shirts-T-Go, in 1978, which they ran together for over 20 years. A skilled athlete in his youth, particularly in football and basketball, Denny enjoyed watching and coaching sports during his adult life. He spent countless hours in all weather conditions over many years playing ball with his son to help perfect his son's athletic skills. Following Ruthie's death from cancer in 2007, Denny focused on new hobbies, including cooking and travel. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching their ball games. Throughout his life, even to the very end, he enjoyed socializing with people and making them laugh. Denny leaves daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Mike Ripley (Ben and Brian) of San Diego, California, and Beth and Brian Murphy (Madison Yates) of Mansfield, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Sarka Farnik (Josef and Michael) of Frisco, Texas; siblings John Farnik (wife Kathy) of Verdigre, Nebraska, and JoEllen (husband Curt) Miller and Gary (wife Theresa) Farnik, all of Norfolk, Nebraska and a host of relatives and friends. Denny was preceded in death by: wife, Ruthie Ann Farnik; parents, Joe and Helen Farnik; brother, Charles Farnik and granddaughter, Lenka Farnik.
