Description	:	Dennis D. Hestermann, 75, of Sterling, entered into eternal rest Feb. 17, 2018 at Gold Crest Retirement Center of Adams. He was born September 13, 1942 at rural Sterling to Ben and Gertrude (Spielman) Hestermann. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Sterling. Hestermann, 75, of Sterling, entered into eternal rest Feb. 17, 2018 at Gold Crest Retirement Center of Adams. He was born September 13, 1942 at rural Sterling to Ben and Gertrude (Spielman) Hestermann. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Sterling. He graduated from Sterling High School in 1960. Dennis married Joyce Giesmann and to this union they were blessed with 3 children, Dean, Scott and Cindy. They later divorced and in 1991 he married Susan Pella Shea. Dennis owned and operated the Adams Implement before working for Baum Iron of Omaha in the mid 1980's. He also worked for Case IH in Beatrice, John Deere Dealership of Auburn, and most recently worked at Steve and Jeff Dean's Pioneer Seed store in Syracuse. Dennis enjoyed camping and anything sports related. Most important, he loved watching his kids grandchildren at their sporting events. As a big supporter of the Sterling High School he announced the Sterling High School football games and coached various youth teams. He loved meeting and talking with people, could fix anything and was an avid wood worker. Dennis was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of St. Mary, NE and the Sterling Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include his wife Susan of Sterling; two sons, Dean (Cheryl) Hestermann of Firth, Scott (Jamie) Hestermann of Syracuse; daughter, Cindy (Mike) Sayers of Lincoln; three step-sons, Jeff (Sarah) Shea of Sterling, Michael Shea of Adams and Ryan (Sara) Shea of Wamego, KS; three step-daughters, Jodi (Jim) Jasa of Sterling, Amy (Kurt) Larkins of Firth and Renae (Aaron) Kinney of Tecumseh; 28 grandchildren; mother-in-law, Irene Pella of Sterling;; three brothers in-law, Richard Schnuelle of Beatrice, James (Marena) Pella of Sterling, Francis (Stella) Pella of Tecumseh; sister-in-law, Sally (Thomas) Rosenthal of Genoa; aunt, Naomi Spielman of Beatrice; nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Gertrude Hestermann; granddaughter, Addison Hestermann; sister, Norma Jean Schnuelle; brother-in-law, LeRoy Schlake. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at St. Andrew Catholic Church of Tecumseh with Father Craig Clinch as Celebrant. A Rosary will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. at St. Andrew Catholic Church. Burial will be held at a later date at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, St. Mary, Nebraska. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. The body will lie in state at the Zink-Fox Funeral Home of Sterling from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday and 9:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. on Wednesday. The family will meet and greet friends and relatives from 3:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
