Interment will be in the Catholic Cem. (Winifred Pauline Duff, daughter of his son Francis Jerome Duff) Obituary of a Pioneer. Dennis Duff, was born in Armstrong Co. Pennsylvania, October 2, 1828 and died at the family home two miles north of Anderson on Thursday, December 12, 1912, at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 10 days. From his native state he moved to Illinois in 1855, working as a farmhand for a few years. Shortly after the beginning of the Civil War he enlisted in the Seventy-seventh Illinois Volunteer infantry at Peoria, to which place he returned at the close of the struggle, having seen three years service. there he remained until February 1867, when he came to Fremont County, arriving here on February 13, and after a short time settled on the farm that has since been his home. On June 11, 1872, he was united in marriage to Rebecca Boyle, in Venango County, Pennsylvania, who survives him, together with one son, Frank, and one daughter, Mary. He also leaves one brother, Jerome Duff of Freeport, PA and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Coyle, of Pittsburgh, PA. Two and one-half hours following the demise of the old gentleman occurred the death of a granddaughter, Winifred Pauline, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Duff, after four weeks of illness from bronchial trouble terminating in bronchial pneumonia. Funeral services of both grandfather and granddaughter were held together at the family home last Friday morning at 10 0'clock conducted by Reb. Father Quinn of Red Oak, assisted by Rev. Father Tober of Shenandoah, Interment was made in the Imogene Catholic Cemetery. Note: They were married in Armstrong Co. PA not Venango Co., PA.
